About My Practice
I have experience working with adults, teens, adolescents, and children in individual, family, and group counseling settings. I have been trained in the field of clinical mental health counseling having earned the degree of Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling.
I utilize an eclectic approach that draws from several schools of psychotherapy, combining methods proven to be effective through clinical research to achieve rapid and lasting outcomes for clients. Therapy often incorporates concepts from Cognitive, Behavioral, Psychoanalysis, and Rational Emotive theories. Techniques used in counseling are based on effective, peer-reviewed psychological research. Homework is normally a required component of this form of therapy to ensure more rapid and lasting results.
I specialize in the treatment of anxiety disorders, life changes, panic attacks, career challenges, hidden emotions, and PTSD. All therapy begins with empathy and is guided by regular assessments in the form of Brief Mood Surveys. Therapeutic techniques often incorporated during therapy include exposure, cognitive reframing, role play, and journaling. While these methods are powerful, they sometimes require clients to address challenging thoughts and expose themselves to uncomfortable emotions within the safety of an affirming alliance with a compassionate professional.
A Christian, I am also able to incorporate theological principles, Scripture, meditations/reflections, and prayer for clients seeking integrative treatment.
