About My Practice

My background and training are in social work, behavioral health, criminal justice, family matters, and academics. As a therapist and as a facilitator, I use evidence-based approaches that include cognitive-behavioral therapy (TEAM CBT), motivational enhancement therapy (MET), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance/Commitment Training (ACT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and family systems theory.

I have worked extensively with individuals who struggle with alcoholism, addictions, co-occurring disorders, and recovery challenges, as well as with relationship and family issues.

I received my Master of Social Work with honors from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, in 1996. Soon after I became a Licensed Social Worker. I am licensed to practice social work in New York and New Jersey. I have a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice/Community Legal Services. Having spent 25 years working with clients in the adult, juvenile, and family courts, I have extensive experience and training in the following areas:

  • Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders

  • Obsessive/Compulsive Disorders (OCD)

  • Codependency

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

  • Serious and chronic mental health disorders

  • Court-Involved individuals

  • Veterans transitioning back to civilian life and experiencing TBI and PTSD

Additionally, I have provided instruction and training to social workers, human services professionals, and students at Rutgers, School of Social Work and the Addiction Counselor Training (ACT) program, Wells College, and the University of Phoenix. I also worked as a Psychiatric Evaluator within the emergency department at Cayuga Medical Center.

My approach is caring, empathetic and down to earth. I will actively work with you to achieve your goals and solve the problems that are interfering with your life and happiness.
