About My Practice

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, an MFT Supervision Candidate, and hold an advanced master’s degree as an Education Specialist (Ed.S) from The University of South Carolina, A CACREP-approved program. After having opened my private practice in 2017, I have worked within a variety of mental health agencies as well as school-integrated programs. I split the academic hours for my internship and externship between a school agency and an Intensive Outpatient Program specifically geared toward women dealing with issues related to substance use and trauma. Outside of my journey as a licensed MFT, I was a group instructor and physical trainer in the fitness industry for nearly a decade. I have training and experience working with individuals, couples, and families, and recently gained specialized training in disorders dealing with trauma.

People are my passion. My therapeutic style begins where my client arrives. In other words, if my client's journey takes them back to process childhood experiences, I will most likely meet them in a theoretical place that would call upon Internal Family Systems Theory, Human Growth and Development models, Attachment Theory, or a combination of theories that support the client in educating, processing, and reprogramming "unhealthy" thoughts and/or behaviors that may be clouding their narrative. If my client's journey is more future-focused, then I may meet them in a different theoretical place where they may benefit from the use of Motivational Interviewing techniques, Narrative Theory, or something more along the lines of a values-based approach, such as Acceptance and Commitment Theory. Overall, I am well versed in multiple theories and can be flexible, but my foundation is Humanistic. I find therapy works best when I tend to the "wholeness" of my clients to understand the uniqueness of each individual, couple, or family system that I encounter. I believe that all of my clients have the power to unlock the answers they seek within themselves. I prefer to think of myself as a guide - an educator, a facilitator, and a witness to my client's unique therapeutic journeys.

I encourage my clients to open their minds and hearts to an experience that benefits greatly from entering a place of vulnerability. It is when we allow ourselves to break free from the chains of shame and guilt that we truly find emotional and physical freedom to be something else - something bigger, brighter, and more authentic. Learning to live our lives from our hearts rather than our fears or according to someone else's expectations can give us the freedom we require to heal and expedite the changes we desire in our unique narratives.
