About My Practice
Hi. My name is Robin Mitchell, but please, call me Mitch. As a musician and a therapist, I’ve been told I have the knack of putting people at ease and cultivating an atmosphere of safety which enables people to feel comfortable in exploring their thoughts, feelings and creativity. I’m a listener, supporter, challenger and champion. I believe strongly that therapy is a two-way collaborative process that offers opportunity for change. It provides a chance to reflect on how life is going, to plan, to build and to move towards where we want to be.
Combining TEAM-CBT with use of the creative arts I help people who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, loss/grief and blocked creativity. I help build self-esteem and resilience that enables clients to better cope with the challenges they face.
I am a New York State Licensed Mental Health Practitioner, Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and Board Certified Music Therapist with over 20 years’ clinical experience. I emphasize the importance of creativity and encourage people to become more connected to their creative or musical selves. However, no prior experience in music or the arts is needed. If you wish to draw on your own creative side, you have the option to incorporate writing, drawing, songwriting, or musical improvisation into the sessions.
Please contact me to schedule a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we might be a match.
