Hi! I am Jellis Vaes, a therapist and coach. And if you ask me, a good therapist/coach does not only require academic or professional knowledge, but also personal experience with tough life situations.
That’s why, as a therapist and coach, I like to combine my personal life experiences (loss of my father at a young age, living with a life-threatening heart condition, cardiac arrest and suicidal thoughts), my academic knowledge from Psychology studies, and my professional experience creating a platform of life (Inner Path Seekers), on which I have hosted numerous experts on important topics such as relationships, the body and mind, and mental health.
I can help you with the following:
- Lack of satisfaction in life
- Feelings of emptiness and sadness
- Feeling stuck in life
- Working on your personal growth
- Issues you have been carrying with you for a while which you find difficult to talk about
- Emotions which have been making life difficult for you for a significant period of time, such as uncertainty, fear, sadness, etc.
My approach is very goal-oriented. The first few sessions will be instrumental to look into your past, but in further sessions the main focus will shift to the here and now, the problems you are experiencing in the present and what you wish to achieve, so that we can work towards a more fulfilling and happier version of your life.
To achieve this, I adopt techniques from CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), an evidence-based form of therapy, which has proved to be efficient in treating a wide range of issues. To these, I add my own touch and perspective.
Typically, I see a small number of clients at a time since I find it important to give a great amount of focus to each individual and because my work with you does not limit itself to our sessions. I will also guide you through the entire process and offer you tailor-made tasks, tools and goals based on the issues you would like to address and your personal wishes.
Please, do let the thought of your issues not being important or large enough stop you from seeking help, as you may definitely also benefit from therapy or coaching. Chances are, since you are reading this, you are bothered by certain issues in your life and are looking for a solution.
Everyone’s mental health is important. Including yours. So you do not ever have to let these issues linger longer than strictly necessary. Doing so will not benefit you, or anyone around you, and will only prevent you from getting much more out of life.
